At the opening event, attendees will walk down a red carpet and see the Academy of the Arts dance studio’s performance of “On Broadway: A History of African American Dance in America.”
“So many DeKalb residents have fond memories of going to concerts, shows and movies at the Fox Theatre, and now they have a chance to experience its storied history firsthand,” said Alison Weissinger, director, DeKalb County Public Library. “We can’t wait to meet the Fox Theatre fans coming to see the exhibit and taking part in the exhibit’s associated programs.”
Over the course of the exhibit’s run, the library will offer a variety of free, themed programs featuring crafts, films and scavenger hunts. The library will also conduct immersive, entertaining educational tours for patrons using a history lesson provided by Fox Gives, the philanthropic arm of Atlanta’s Fox Theatre.
