Fox Theatre’s “Fox in a Box” Exhibit Comes to DeKalb County Public Library

DECATUR, Ga. – (July 14, 2026) – DeKalb Coun­ty Pub­lic Library announced today that the Fox Theatre’s tour­ing Fox in a Box” his­to­ry exhib­it will open on July 15 at Hair­ston Cross­ing Library. The open­ing night cel­e­bra­tion starts at 5 p.m. The exhib­it is on view until August 18.

At the open­ing event, atten­dees will walk down a red car­pet and see the Acad­e­my of the Arts dance studio’s per­for­mance of On Broad­way: A His­to­ry of African Amer­i­can Dance in America.”

So many DeKalb res­i­dents have fond mem­o­ries of going to con­certs, shows and movies at the Fox The­atre, and now they have a chance to expe­ri­ence its sto­ried his­to­ry first­hand,” said Ali­son Weissinger, direc­tor, DeKalb Coun­ty Pub­lic Library. We can’t wait to meet the Fox The­atre fans com­ing to see the exhib­it and tak­ing part in the exhibit’s asso­ci­at­ed programs.” 

Over the course of the exhibit’s run, the library will offer a vari­ety of free, themed pro­grams fea­tur­ing crafts, films and scav­enger hunts. The library will also con­duct immer­sive, enter­tain­ing edu­ca­tion­al tours for patrons using a his­to­ry les­son pro­vid­ed by Fox Gives, the phil­an­thropic arm of Atlanta’s Fox Theatre.

About the Exhibit

Fox in a Box is an immer­sive exhib­it cur­rent­ly tour­ing Geor­gia pub­lic libraries to share the Fox Theatre’s rich his­to­ry and how it inter­sects with Amer­i­can his­to­ry, the Civ­il Rights Move­ment, eco­nom­ics, and shared com­mu­ni­ty experiences.

Fox Gives, the Geor­gia Pub­lic Library Ser­vice, and the Insti­tute of Muse­um and Library Ser­vices make this exhib­it pos­si­ble. Sup­port is also pro­vid­ed by the Stone Moun­tain Chap­ter of Delta Sig­ma Theta Soror­i­ty, Inc. and DeKalb Library Foundation.
