DeKalb County Public Library to Offer Workshop Series for Financial Literacy Month
DECATUR, Ga. — (April 1, 2026) — DeKalb County Public Library (DCPL) announced today that it will offer a series of workshops in April for Financial Literacy Month. The events will provide residents with practical strategies for managing finances and planning for the future.
The free workshops will take place at five DCPL branches beginning April 13. Sessions will cover budgeting, managing debt, investing, retirement planning and estate planning, along with a session on financial planning for individuals with special needs and their caregivers.
“Everyone needs access to clear, reliable information to make informed decisions, and financial literacy is no different,” said DeKalb County Public Library Director Alison Weissinger. “The library is uniquely suited to provide a trusted space where people can connect with that information and put it into practice in their daily lives.”
Workshops will be led by a licensed financial planner and tailored to the needs of each branch’s community. Topics will range from foundational budgeting and debt management to long-term planning.
According to the National Financial Educators Council, the average American adult lost $1,015 in 2024 due to a lack of financial knowledge.
The Tau Pi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the Council for Community Enrichment, Inc., and DeKalb Library Foundation are providing funding and support for the workshops. Each location will also host a drawing for a fireproof document organizer.
