DeKalb County Public Library Celebrates National Library Week, April 20-25

DECATUR, Ga. — (April 16, 2026) — DeKalb County Public Library (DCPL), along with Georgia Public Library Service and the state’s 410 public libraries, encourages everyone to visit their local branch during National Library Week, which is April 20 – 25.
“Everyone can join the celebration by exploring all that DCPL’s 23 branches have to offer, whether they are lifelong cardholders or have not visited in a while,” said DeKalb County Public Library Director Alison Weissinger. “While the bedrock of libraries remains providing access to books, stories and information, we also celebrate our role as an inclusive community gathering place and the dedicated staff who make all of this possible.”
DCPL offers a vast array of free programs, classes, and resources, including book clubs, passes to local attractions, and arts and crafts. Digital offerings include more than 100 informational databases, eBook and audiobook apps, streaming media services, Wi-Fi hotspots, and Chromebooks.
“Libraries are foundational to our communities and responsive to each community’s individual needs,” said Vice Chancellor for Libraries & Archives and State Librarian Julie Walker. “No matter what your age, education or background, libraries welcome you and strive to support you in your pursuits and goals.”
A Vital Service for DeKalb Residents
More and more residents are turning to local libraries to help children become strong readers, support academic success, and access tools to grow their small businesses. Cardholders can also read The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and New York Times for free; learn a new language through Mango Languages; take an online class through LinkedIn Learning; or receive live online tutoring through Brainfuse HelpNow.
