Summer Reading Challenge 2025

Sum­mer Read­ing Chal­lenge: Col­or Our World

Patrons of all ages can par­tic­i­pate in the Sum­mer Read­ing Chal­lenge. Reg­is­ter at dekalbli​brary​.beanstack​.org. The Chal­lenge runs from June 1 — July 31, 2025.

Start­ing June 1, you can earn vir­tu­al badges (and a chance at prizes!): 

• Young Chil­dren (0 – 5): Read books and par­tic­i­pate in activ­i­ties to earn vir­tu­al badges in Beanstack.
  
• School-Age Chil­dren (6 – 12), Teens (13 – 18), and Adults (19 and up): Record time spent read­ing and par­tic­i­pate in activ­i­ties to com­plete a vir­tu­al BIN­GO card in Beanstack.

WIN PRIZES! Free books, book bags, gift cards, Kin­dle Fires, jour­nals, prize packs with books & puz­zles, Blue­tooth speak­ers, STEM box­es, and more! All read­ing and activ­i­ties must be logged by July 31, 2025.

Sum­mer Read­ing Kick­off with Car­men and Lau­ren Agra Deedy!

We are excit­ed to host Geor­gia chil­dren’s book authors Car­men and Lau­ren Agra Deedy at the Decatur Library on Fri­day, June 13 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.. This event is free and open to the pub­lic but reg­is­tra­tion is required.

Both Car­men and Lau­ren will be read­ing from and sign­ing copies of their books: 

• New Shoes for Leo by Lau­ren Agra Deedy, illus­trat­ed by Susan Gal
• The Peanut Man, illus­trat­ed by Raul Colon and The Library Drag­on (30^th Anniver­sary Edi­tion) by Car­men Agra Deedy, illus­trat­ed by Michael P. White.

This pro­gram spon­sored by Geor­gia Pub­lic Library Ser­vice and made pos­si­ble in part by the Insti­tute of Muse­um and Library Services.

Lit­tle Shop of Sto­ries will be on hand for those who wish to pur­chase copies of the books.
