Mind Bubble

Mind Bubble fosters a love of learning by connecting students with community members through free homework help.

Homework Help

Volunteer tutor watches attentively as young student completes homework in the library

Mind Bubble homework helpers are volunteers who are committed to helping young people succeed academically. Homework helpers are carefully screened to ensure that students are safe, relaxed, and able to learn when they attend our homework help sessions. We have a diverse mix of volunteers who come to us through universities, library outreach and folks who just find us because they want to have fun helping young people learn!

Mind Bubble provides free one-on-one homework help in every academic area for grades K through 8th. We run two homework help sessions per week – Tuesdays from 4:006:00 PM and Thursdays from 2:304:30 PM at the Scottdale-Tobie Grant Homework Center.

For more information about homework help, please email Jared Bush, Senior Library Specialist at DeKalb County Public Library at bushj@dekalblibrary.org.

Workshops

Mind Bubble’s educational workshops provide engaging learning experiences in a variety of topics students aren’t likely to encounter during their normal school day. Outside groups with a focus on STEAM learning help us offer these exciting learning experiences!

Check our events calendar to find out about upcoming workshops.

Volunteer

Volunteers are at the very heart of Mind Bubble’s work with students. All of our homework helpers and workshop facilitators care about young people and want them to have great learning experiences!

We know that there is no limit to the positive impact a caring adult can have on a young person’s life. Whether you guide them through a tricky math problem, help them revise an English essay, teach them about a topic you’re passionate about during a workshop, or just sit down and play a game with them – you have the potential to make a huge difference in somebody’s life!

In order to begin working with students, you must first complete our volunteer application. All interested volunteers will attend an orientation where you learn more about providing homework help. We’ll also conduct a background check. After that, you’ll be ready to go!

For more information about volunteering, please email Charity Ivey, Library Specialist at DeKalb County Public Library at iveyc@dekalblibrary.org.
