About the GED Test

Reg­is­tra­tion

Paper tests in Geor­gia were dis­con­tin­ued April 1, 2013. Sub­ject tests passed before Jan­u­ary 1, 2014 are no longer valid.

Com­put­er-based tests are avail­able for both new and repeat test-tak­ers. Test tak­ers 18 years and old­er are not required to pro­vide proof of with­draw­al from school.

Reg­is­ter online any time at GED​.com or call 1.877.EXAM GED (1.877.392.6433) between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Mon­day through Fri­day. When you reg­is­ter, you can select the date, loca­tion and sub­jects for test­ing. You also may can­cel or resched­ule online or by phone up to 48 hours before your sched­uled test appoint­ment. Each test must be paid for by cred­it or deb­it card at time of registration.

Tests are cur­rent­ly avail­able in Eng­lish and Spanish.

Fees

As of July 1, 2012, the fee for each of the five sub­ject tests has increased to $40.00 for a total cost of $160.00 for the entire test series.

Impor­tant Facts to Remember

You can re-test on one or more sub­ject tests of the GED after tak­ing each sub­ject test once. There is not a wait­ing peri­od between the first re-test. Re-test fee is $20.00 per sub­ject test.

Class­es for GED prepa­ra­tion are avail­able at Geor­gia Pied­mont Tech­ni­cal Col­lege. Call 404.297.9522, ext. 4000 for infor­ma­tion. Class­es are also avail­able at oth­er loca­tions in Geor­gia. Check the Tech­ni­cal Col­lege Sys­tem of Geor­gia web­site.
