The Variety Show Guidelines and Application

The Vari­ety Show is a is a tal­ent show­case pre­sent­ed by DeKalb Coun­ty Pub­lic Library in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the DeKalb Coun­ty Office of Aging. Par­tic­i­pants must be 55 years of age or old­er to apply/​perform. If you are inter­est­ed in apply­ing, please fill out the online appli­ca­tion below, or print the appli­ca­tion and return to any DeKalb Coun­ty branch.

Appli­ca­tion dead­line: Mon­day, April 7, 2025
Noti­fi­ca­tion date: Tues­day, April 22, 2025
Show date: Wednes­day, May 14, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Porter San­ford III Per­form­ing Arts and Com­mu­ni­ty Cen­ter at 3181 Rain­bow Dri­ve, Decatur, GA 30034.

Guide­lines

Due to time con­straints, not all entries will per­form. Lim­it­ed to 18 acts.

1. Con­tes­tants must be at least 55 years of age.

2. Acts must be 4 min­utes or less. In addi­tion, you will have a max­i­mum set-up time of 2 minutes.

3. A sound sys­tem with microphone(s) is pro­vid­ed. Head­set micro­phones are not avail­able and use of per­son­al sound equip­ment of any kind is prohibited.

4. All instru­ments used in your per­for­mance are the sole respon­si­bil­i­ty of the act.

5. Only those props that can be car­ried on stage by the per­former or the per­former’s assis­tant and that do not require exten­sive set up are allowed. Mats will be allowed if nec­es­sary, but not pro­vid­ed. No fire, smoke, knives, throw­ing of glit­ter, etc. will be allowed.

6. A pan­el of judges will choose the win­ners and their deci­sion is final.
