Summer Reading Challenge

Tails and Tales Summer Reading Challenge 2021

2021 Summer Reading Challenge  •  June 1, 2021  — July 31, 2021

School is out, summer is here and DeKalb County Public Library is open! It's very important that everybody: babies, children, teens, and adults read and do literacy activities all summer long to keep the brain in shape. So let's get ready to read and do literacy activities by participating in DeKalb County Public Library's Summer Reading Challenge, Tails and Tales!

How Summer Reading Works:

Patrons of all ages can participate in the Summer Reading Challenge.

Register here in Beanstack beginning May 24, 2021 or download the app for Android or Apple.

We will have a variety of programs, virtual storytimes, and fun activities during the summer for all ages!

Everyone who completes their age-level challenge (Young Children, School Age, Teens) will receive a free book and will be entered into a raffle for great prizes, including but not limited to games, puzzles, gift cards, Amazon Kindles and more!

Fine-Free Summer for kids and teens (June 1-August 31, 2021). No library overdue fines on Juvenile and Young Adult materials.

Badges are earned by doing the following challenges:

2021 Teen Summer Reading Challenge  — Ages 13 to 18

Read books or complete a BINGO Card to win prizes!

Earn badges by reading and logging 150 minutes per week (approximately 30 minutes, five times a week) or get a BINGO! (Complete 5 activities in a row either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally). BINGO cards can be found in Beanstack in the Teen Challenge or can be downloaded here.

Submit your BINGO card by dropping it off at any DeKalb County Public Library branch by July 31, 2021 or fill out the form and submit it online. Ask a Youth Services Librarian to help for assistance.

All reading or the BINGO Card must be logged by July 31, 2021.
