This year, we will be using the Beanstack Reading Challenge software to register patrons, track/log reading minutes, books, literacy activities and manage the end of summer raffles. Register on the Summer Reading Challenge Beanstack website, or download the app for Android or Apple, to get started. Time spent reading, and participating in literacy activities or writing book reviews earns you cool prizes for participating in the Summer Reading Challenge! Since our libraries are currently closed, please visit our Events Calendar to participate in virtual storytimes, craft programs, book clubs and an assortment of programs provided by storytellers, magicians, puppeteers and more!
We look forward to having everybody participate in Imagine Your Story!
Children have been away from the traditional learning environment (school) since the middle of March. When or if they return in the fall, they can potentially lose up to three months or more of reading ability. Now more than ever, reading and participating in learning activities during the summer break is important. DeKalb County Public Library is here for you!
The Summer Reading Challenge is free and is for everybody including adults. Joining is simple. Just visit the Summer Reading Challenge website, register your account, and start logging minutes you spent reading and literacy activities.
DeKalb County Public Library is providing both paper and digital logs for you to record your minutes. Digital logs can be found on the Summer Reading Challenge website. You can also download the Beanstack app to your mobile device and log your minutes there.
Paper registration and reading logs may be picked up at participating DeKalb County Parks and Recreation Centers. If you use a paper log to register and record reading minutes and activities, please hold on to it until we reopen to the public. We will make sure that your paper entries are included in the end of summer raffles.
Adults have the opportunity to receive Amazon eCards, adult book bundles, Kindles, iPad minis and more!
The Summer Reading Program is supported in whole or in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, as administered by Georgia Public Library Service.
