Impact Stories

PRIME TIME Preschool introduces children ages 3-4 and their families to literature through storytelling techniques and play time led by trained facilitators. Program sessions are are six weeks long and are offered twice a year. The sessions are one evening a week in four library locations in DeKalb: Scott Candler, Flat Shoals, Redan-Trotti, and the Wesley Chapel-William C. Brown Libraries. Each session includes a nutritious meal, books, reading activities, and play.

After completing the program, parents and caregivers have shared:

"Prime Time has encouraged me to read more frequently WITH my child instead of TO my child."
"My son’s dad has started reading to our son at night now and it’s the cutest thing ever!!"
"Prime Time allowed me to realize that we can all read together as a family no matter the age difference my children have."

The summer of 2019 was full of fun and educational programs at DCPL.  Thanks to our generous donors, we were able to fund 134 programs with 3,400 attendees of all ages.  Programs ranged from magic shows to STEAM events; sewing classes to book talks; reading programs to motivational speakers, and much more.  Please watch the video below to share in the fun.
