The Teen Advisory Board (TAB) provides opportunities for DeKalb County teens (ages 14 to 18 years) to enhance leadership skills by planning and promoting teen programs, providing volunteer support, and allowing teens to make a difference in their community. TAB members are required to attend and actively participate in monthly meetings. Currently, TAB meetings are held virtually with members receiving volunteer hours upon active participation.
Applications for TAB membership are accepted from August 1 through October 31. Please check back August 1 to apply.
The purpose of the DeKalb County Public Library Board of Trustees is to provide citizen oversight of the policies and operations of the library system. As such, at each meeting the Trustees receive a report on operations from the Director, review the library’s bi-monthly financial report and consider policy issues as they arise. They also provide advice and counsel to the library director on issues under discussion. The teen representative on the library board would be appointed by the Library Board of Trustees and would be advisory in nature. The teen representative would be expected to participate in the discussion of any issues addressed by the board as he or she wished. The goal of appointing a teen library board representative is to provide the Trustees with a viewpoint on library issues under discussion from a teen perspective.
